My name is Carlos Troconis; I am a pediatric cardiac surgeon. I founded Save-A-Heart Foundation to provide life-saving cardiac surgery to children who would otherwise die or have a poor clinical outlook and an even worst quality of life. I contributed in the establishment of a permanent cardiac surgery program at the Children's Hospital in the city of Santiago, and shortly at the Santiago Metropolitan Hospital (HOMS), Dominican Republic, where underprivileged children from the Region can receive exceptional surgical care at a fraction of the cost of similar procedures in the developed world.

I call upon you, my colleagues, surgeons, anesthesiologists, ICU physicians, O.R. nurses and PICU nurses to consider volunteering a laps of your time to assist us in delivering world class surgical care and to leave a legacy of state of the art techniques for our Dominican colleagues and friends to relay upon.

In four years we have trained home made local personnel that have contributed to resolve either by cardiac surgery or interventional cardiology, more than 500 kids that otherwise never will get access to these vanguard technologies, with excellent results.
